Critical Issues

Critical Issues

The NPJS Critical Issues and Policy Direction Committee generates position statements on critical and timely issues confronting the juvenile services profession.  The committee establishes the policy recommendations for the Board positioning the Partnership to respond directly to the legislative and public policy issues as they arise. The Partnership endorses legislation, programs and policies that are supportive of our mission and provide guidance whenever possible through position statements, research articles and technical assistance to improve understanding about issues and initiatives that impact the field of juvenile justice service delivery and system reform.

The Committee drafts statements for public review and comment by NPJS membership. Once comments are reviewed and appropriate adjustments are made, the statements are presented to the NPJS Board of Directors for final approval.  Any member-in-good-standing may serve on the Committee. Please connect with Wayne Bear for more information and/or to become involved with this Committee. Wayne.Bear@npjs.org
